(pronounced “zero-ey-dee”) is a free, open-source, historical Real Time Strategy (RTS) game currently under development by Wildfire Games, a global group of volunteer game developers. As the leader of an ancient civilization, you must gather the resources you need to raise a military force and dominate your enemies. “0 A.D.” is a time period that never actually existed: In the usual calendar, one goes from 1 B.C. to 1 A.D. and skips zero. This reflects the historical fiction in the game: Who would have won if all the factions were pitted against each other when each of them was at its prime? We intend to portray some of the major civilizations over the millennium of 500 B.C. to 500 A.D. (Hence the midpoint, zero.) That is an ambitious prospect, so in the first edition of 0 A.D. we focus on the last five centuries B.C. Perhaps in future expansion packs, more civilizations will be added, along with additional gameplay features. We put a strong emphasis on historical accuracy while developing 0 A.D. We plan all our units and all our buildings based on reconstructions of how the units and the buildings might have looked like in the ancient world. We even name them in the original languages, such as Greek and Latin. All similar or identical files that were found can either be sent to the recycle bin or directly deleted. This will increase the hard disk space on your computer. Select the option “Compare file content” to compare the entire binary content of the files. This means that the file names are irrelevant. Here, the basic principle is: “Name is but sound and smoke - size matters! Ascii Patrol v1.5 Ascii Patrol v1.5 From the author: Ascii Patrol is an ASCII game project. It was mainly inspired by "Moon Patrol", my favourite arcade game at the times I was a child. So why is this ASCII game? Some time ago I was transferring a lot of files over remote Linux machine with pure text interface only. While waiting I thought maybe there is a port of Moon Patrol or any other cool old game on Linux so I could play it over SSH. Unfortunately everything I've found was quite disappointing. So a few days later I made the decision, let's make such game by myself. What about game design? The game play is very close to the original Moon Patrol game, but with several additions. Of course game menu is also added as Ascii Patrol is not coin operated, so players can choose, in example, a level to play. Ascii art images were initially painted using an ordinary text editor. It was sufficient at the beginning as I didn't even consider using colors for my game. Later I thought that adding some color could improve game appearance a lot. I started searching for a suitable ANSI art editor, with the simple file format, ability to supply it with different raster fonts and most importantly with powerful features with easy to use interface. I found REX Paint, and immediately fall in love with it. Currently, I paint all game assets using REX Paint in 2 versions: black & white and ANSI palette. So the game can run in monochrome or 16 color mode. Game controls At current development state, the game can be controlled only by physical keyboard. The preview pane at (3) shows a text-only preview of the file currently selected in the result pane. All matches in the file are highlighted in yellow. You can filter the results by minimum and/or maximum filesize (4), by file type (5) and by location (6). The buttons at (7) are used for opening the manual, opening the preferences and minimizing the program into the system tray, respectively. DocFetcher requires that you create so-called indexes for the folders you want to search in. What indexing is and how it works is explained in more detail below.
