An open standard enables investigators to quickly and efficiently use their preferred tools for drive analysis. OSFClone creates a forensic image of a disk, preserving any unused sectors, slack space, file fragmentation and undeleted file records from the original hard disk. Boot into OSFClone and create disk clones of FAT, NTFS and USB-connected drives! OSFClone can be booted from CD/DVD drives, or from USB flash drives. OSFClone can create disk images in the dc3dd format. The dc3dd format is ideal for computer forensics due to its increased level of reporting for progress and errors, and ability to hash files on-the-fly. With the Pointing Magnifier, the usual mouse cursor is replaced by a semi-transparent circular "area cursor." When the user clicks, the area beneath this circular cursor becomes magnified, as if a lens. Once magnified, the typical mouse cursor arrow appears within the magnified lens, allowing for normal mouse operations, but now on much larger targets. The Pointing Magnifier supports all button-based actions: clicking, double-clicking, right-clicking, dragging, and button dwelling, both on the cursor itself and within its magnified lens. It does not trigger mouse movement-based events—mouse over, mouse hover, mouse enter, or mouse leave—due to technical limitations. It was modified to work in 16bit Windows 3.1 and magically has worked in all Windows versions up to and including Windows 7 32bit. It wouldn’t, however work in 64bit Windows. This QuizMenu 3.00 version will work in 64bit systems. Teachers have reported using QuizMenu to create quizzes for their Students and say it is a fun way to drive facts home in a way that Children enjoy. It will allow users to identify a multitude of attributes, of which, includes the manufacturer, the clockspeed and other data of their DDR2, DDR3, DDR4, XMP and EPP memory devices and even some older memory types. It uses SysInfo DLL SDK to gather the SPD attributes from RAM devices. This information provides a snapshot of the available data for each RAM module installed on the system. What is SPD? Serial Presence Detect (SPD) is the standard set forth by JEDEC for a host system to retrieve attributes of memory modules. The SPD standard is intended for use on any memory module, independent of memory technology or module form factor. RAMMon displays the values stored on RAM module such as the memory capacity, the manufactuer, serial number, model part number, the CAS latencies supported and the module voltage. Also, depending on your RAM type, other specific SPD data can be retreived as well. Such as the module thickness, module width, maximum operating temperature and more. In order for a sending device to transmit data to a receiving device, the sender needs to know where the destination is. The destination will either be on the same subnetwork as the source, or on some other subnetwork. If the devices are in the same subnet, the mechanism used to determine the location of the destination device is the broadcast. But what happens if they are on different networks? This is where the default gateway comes into play. The default gateway is used as the destination of all traffic that is not on the same subnet. You might need to know the IP address of the default gateway if there’s a network problem or if you need to make changes to your router. In Microsoft Windows, the IP address of a computer’s default gateway can be accessed through Command Prompt with the ipconfig command, as well as through the Control Panel. Phrozen Software studied the behaviour of RATs and discovered that hackers virtually always use a technique called RunPE. This technique spawns a legitimate process – often the default browser or a Microsoft system process – and replace it with a malicious program code directly in memory. Your computer is thus tricked and treats the malicious code as a legitimate process. The user and his anti-virus program have no idea that his default browser is effectively turned into a virus. RunPE is a technique that is used in several malicious ways. The two most common are : [1] FWB (Firewall Bypass): As its name suggests, this technique is implemented to bypass or disable the Application Firewall or the Firewall rules. Since most malware needs to connect to a remote Command-and-Control (C&C) Server, it needs to connect to the Internet via the Firewall. Since most users are connected to the Internet at home, normally the installed Firewall would prevent the malware from connecting to the Internet. Using the RunPE technique to hijack a legitimate process that is authorized to reach Internet, any malware could subsequently connect to the C&C without being detected by the Firewall.
