A plea... Deanna and I have been running this site since 2008 and lately we're seeing a big increase in users (and cost) but a decline in percentage of users who donate. Our ad-free and junkware-free download site only works if everyone chips in to offset the revenue that ads on other sites bring in. Please donate at the bottom of the page. Every little bit helps. Thank you so much. Sincerely, your Older Geeks: Randy and Deanna Always scroll to the bottom of the page for the main download link. We don't believe in fake/misleading download buttons and tricks. The link is always in the same place. ReactOS v0.4.16 👉 A free, open-source operating system designed to run Windows applications and drivers without requiring Windows. ReactOS is a free and open-source operating system built from the ground up with the goal of providing binary compatibility with Microsoft Windows applications and hardware drivers. Rather than being based on Linux or Unix, ReactOS implements its own Windows-compatible kernel, system libraries, graphical environment, utilities and services. The project is particularly focused on compatibility with traditional Win32 software and drivers while providing users with a completely open-source operating environment. ReactOS remains alpha-quality software, so the developers do not guarantee stability, data safety or compatibility with every application or piece of hardware. Version 0.4.16 introduces one of the project's largest usability improvements: a new graphical installer and a combined Boot CD/Live CD image. You can now boot the same image to either try ReactOS without installing it or install/update the operating system using the new graphical setup interface. The installer includes basic partition management and replaces the need to choose separate installation and Live CD downloads. ![]() Features: Free and open-source Windows-compatible operating system Designed to run Win32 applications and Windows hardware drivers Independent Windows-like kernel rather than a Linux or Unix compatibility layer Familiar Windows-style desktop environment and Explorer shell New graphical installation interface Combined Boot CD and Live CD image lets you test or install from the same disc Basic graphical partition management during installation Workstation installation mode for normal desktop use Server installation mode New Server Core installation mode that runs the Win32 subsystem without the graphical Explorer shell Improved compatibility with NVIDIA graphics drivers through expanded system page table resources Improved AMD graphics and OpenGL handling Continued development of multi-monitor and video-driver compatibility Improved High Definition Audio support New HD Audio bus driver supporting compatible Windows XP and Windows Server 2003 audio drivers from vendors including AMD, IDT, NVIDIA, Realtek and SigmaTel Kernel Mode Driver Framework support, opening the door to additional KMDF-based Windows drivers Improved sound-card detection and audio device enumeration Volume and balance settings can now be saved and restored after reboot with supported HD Audio hardware New ATA storage driver designed to improve SATA/ATA compatibility and reduce INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE errors Improved support for booting on additional physical and virtual hardware Hyper-V Generation 1 support improvements FAT filesystem checking and repair improvements New Disk Cleanup utility compatible with Windows Disk Cleanup extensions USB and Plug and Play support Improved compatibility with third-party Windows drivers Networking support including asynchronous network connections for better performance and application compatibility DECchip 21x4 network adapter support, including hardware used by Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 and Hyper-V Generation 1 ReactOS Applications Manager for finding and installing compatible software Registry Editor, Task Manager, Control Panel, command-line tools and other familiar Windows-style system utilities FAT filesystem support and other storage/filesystem functionality Wine-derived user-mode components integrated directly with the ReactOS Windows-compatible kernel Major ongoing synchronization with Wine 10.0 code WineVDM included in release images to improve compatibility with 16-bit Windows applications Nightly development builds available for users who want the newest fixes and features Runs on real hardware as well as virtual machines such as VirtualBox, VMware, QEMU, Microsoft Virtual PC and supported Hyper-V configurations Source code is freely available for development, research and experimentation with Windows internals Supported operating systems: ReactOS is a standalone operating system and does not require Windows, macOS or Linux Official ReactOS v0.4.16 release image: x86-compatible PCs and supported virtual machines ReactOS is still in alpha development and hardware compatibility varies Supported languages: ReactOS contains extensive internationalization and localization support, including English, Arabic, Armenian, Azerbaijani, Belarusian, Bulgarian, Bengali, Catalan, Chinese, Croatian, Czech, Danish, Dutch, Esperanto, Estonian, Finnish, French, Georgian, German, Greek, Hebrew, Hindi, Hungarian, Icelandic, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Kazakh, Korean, Latvian, Lithuanian, Macedonian, Norwegian, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Romanian, Russian, Serbian, Slovak, Slovenian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai, Turkish, Ukrainian, Uzbek, Vietnamese and additional regional/localized resources.
