The main differences between EAC and most other audio grabbers are: It is free (for non-commercial purposes) It works with a technology, which reads audio CDs almost perfectly. If there are any errors that can’t be corrected, it will tell you on which time position the (possible) distortion occurred, so you could easily control it with e.g. the media player. With other audio grabbers you usually need to listen to every grabbed wave because they only do jitter correction. Scratched CDs read on CD-ROM drives often produce distortions. The ciphers and modes are randomly chosen at runtime. These ciphers are all newer than the Rijndael cipher, aka AES, and are held in high regard by the cybersecurity community. Fate requires the use of OpenSSL and Cat, these two utilities are standard in every Linux distribution, but not so much on Windows. A copy of Windows ports of these two utils are in the zip file, you can place them in the working directory, you can place them in your path for a more permanent solution. It was then left alone for a number of months until one day I decided to adjust the scope of it (or else it likely never would have been finished) to fit in to a single level. If the program detects any of these associations are missing, changed, or hijacked, the settings will be set back to the original Windows defaults.
