WebCam On-Off v1.4 WebCam On-Off v1.4 Webcams allow us to stay in touch with family and friends, or perhaps record and stream video from your computer to the internet or to a file. When not in use , you may wish to disable your webcam to ensure it is not making unwanted recordings. Malware can take over webcams, so there is potential for spying. Hackers can utilize trojan-horse attacks, enabling them to take control of your webcam, allowing them to record you or take pictures of you without your knowledge. If you’re a parent, you may also wish to disable your webcam for safety reasons. Instant messengers and websites that utilize video aren’t always safe for children, thus disabling your webcam may be the best course of action. If the camera is external, you could always unplug it and hide it, but this can become tiresome if you are frequently in need of it. And what if, as on most laptops, you have a built in camera? The Washington Post highlighted an unnerving study published at Johns Hopkins University which found that a laptop webcam can function in relative secrecy – a slightly more subtle Eye of Sauron, if you will. Webcam spying, particularly the variant that involves disabling LED indicator lights, takes quite a bit of effort, but the practice isn’t limited to the realm of academics. The FBI has publicly acknowledged its ability to employ such techniques when investigating criminal activity. As you can see, disabling your webcam completely is the safest way to protect your privacy. Because of this, we have created “Webcam On-Off” which is both portable and freeware. With it you can easily disable or enable your webcam. Don’t let your home become someone else’s reality TV! What is new on version 1.4 (Friday 4 December 2020) 1.[Fixed] – WebCam On-Off Doesn’t Work on ... |

WebESC v18.12 WebESC v18.12 WebESC detects changes in your list of local or web files. It is intended mostly for advanced computer users. It is very fast. List for scanning, in FLS file, is created by WebESC initial scan, or by your application if any, or manually by you. The FLS data reflects the current state of scanned files so when comparing to one taken previously at another time, WebESC will provide discrepancies between the two. You can compare your local or web files for any changes, e.g. by a virus or hacker or legally by some application. WebESC will not remove a virus but it can detect a file change that many of antivirus programs omit, so it would be best to run them both. WebESC in local mode helps you to track the file changes on your computer. For example, list of hard disk files, or your storage on CD/DVD (if burning was reliable or there was a media damage), or USB memory. You can also compare two different folders by using the relative paths, meaning you can check your backups. WebESC in web mode can verify that web links exist, and also changes in sizes of web files, without need of downloading the binary web files. You can compare your web pages stored locally on your disk to those on your web site, i.e. you can verify that all the files are succesfully uploaded or have been changed by any. If you have the web links to other web sites you can check the broken links and file version changes. Click here to visit the author's website. |

Whitenoir v1.2 Whitenoir v1.2 Whitenoir converts any image to a strictly two color monochrome image. Using a really simple user interface it's possible to convert any image in just three mouse clicks. The transformation is totally configurable. You can pick which two colors the resulting image should use and tweak the brightness threshold for the dark and light pixels to make your image more or less dark. You can use Whitenoir for creating sharp bitmaps from pencil drawings. No matter how faint the drawing is Whitenoir should be able to pick out the contrast and produce a sharp crisp bitmap. It's very handy for creating stencil images. Just take your favorite photo of a boat or cat and you'll have a startling render in two colors in no time. For best results it's best to start with a bmp, png or any other lossless type of image compression. If all you've got is a jpg then Whitenoir will still use it but the result may be on the fuzzy side. Whitenoir has been written in VB.NET to run on Windows OS. It has been tested on Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 8.1 & 10. To run just download the .zip file above (right click save as...) and extract the .exe to some location on your PC. To run just double click the Whitenoir.exe file. |

WhoCrashed Free Home Edition v6.70 WhoCrashed Free Home Edition v6.70 Reveals the drivers responsible for crashing your computer. Whenever a computer running Windows suddenly reboots without displaying any notice or blue screen of death, the first thing that is often thought about is a hardware failure. In reality, most crashes are caused by malfunctioning device drivers and kernel modules. In case of a kernel error, most computers running Windows do not show a blue screen unless they are configured to do so. Instead these systems suddenly reboot without any notice. WhoCrashed shows the drivers which have been crashing your computer with a single click. In most cases it can pinpoint the offending drivers which have been causing misery on your computer system in the past. It does post-mortem crashdump analysis and presents all gathered information in a comprehensible way. Normally, debugging skills and a set of debugging tools are required to do post-mortem crash dump analysis. By using this utility you do not need any debugging skills to be able to find out what drivers are causing trouble to your computer. What's new ? The following changes have been made to WhoCrashed 6.70 since last version Problem fixed: running on Windows 8 and 8.1 When running WhoCrashed on Windows 8 or 8.1, an error message could appear and the software would not run. This has been fixed. Minor changes, text corrections and improvements Some minor changes and improvements as well some text corretions have been applied to the software. WhoCrashed Home Edition expired WhoCrashed Home Edition would display a message that is has expired. Expiration has been turned off. Click here to visit the author's website. |

WhoIsConnectedSniffer v1.28 WhoIsConnectedSniffer v1.28 A network discovery tool that listens to network packets on your network adapter using a capture driver (WinpCap or MS network monitor) and accumulates a list of computer and devices currently connected to your network. WhoIsConnectedSniffer uses various protocols to detect the computers connected to your network, including ARP, UDP, DHCP, mDNS, and BROWSER. For every detected computer or device, the following information is displayed: (Some of the fields might be empty if the information cannot be found inside the packets) IP Address, MAC Address, name of the device/computer, description, Operating System, Network Adapter Company, IPv6 Address. After collecting the connected computers/devices information, you can easily export the list to tab-delimited/comma-delimited/xml/html file. WhoIsConnectedSniffer vs Other NirSoft Tools As you may know, NirSoft already provides other tools (Wireless Network Watcher, NetBScanner) that scan the network and show the computers that are currently connected. As opposed to the other tools, WhoIsConnectedSniffer doesn't perform any scanning and it doesn't send any packet to the other computers. WhoIsConnectedSniffer only listens to the packets sent by other computers and devices, analyzes them and then displays the result on the main window. WhoIsConnectedSniffer also provides some information that the other tools cannot get, like operating system, description text of the computer, IPv6 address. System Requirements And Limitations Any version of Windows, starting from Windows 2000, and up to Windows 11. Both 32-bit and 64-bit systems are supported. When using Microsoft Network Monitor driver on 64-bit system, you must use the 64-bit version of WhoIsConnectedSniffer. You have to install one of the following capture drivers: WinPcap capture driver Network Monitor driver WhoIsConnectedSniffer cannot detect a device or computer if it doesn't send any packet that is received ... |

Widelands v1.2.1 Widelands v1.2.1 A free, open source real-time strategy game with singleplayer campaigns and a multiplayer mode. The game was inspired by Settlers II™ (© Bluebyte) but has significantly more variety and depth to it. Still, it is easy to get started through playable tutorials. In Widelands, you are the regent of a small clan. You start out with nothing but your headquarters, where all your resources are stored. In the course of the game, you will build an ever growing settlement. Every member of your clan will do his or her part to produce more resources - wood, food, iron, gold and more - to further this growth. The economic network is complex and different in the five tribes (Barbarians, Empire, Atlanteans, Frisians and Amazons). As you are not alone in the world, you will meet other clans sooner or later. Some of them may be friendly and you may eventually trade with them. However, if you want to rule the world, you will have to train soldiers and fight. Widelands offers a unique style of play. For example, a system of roads plays a central role in your economy: all the goods that are harvested and processed by the tribe must be transported from one building to the next. This is done by carriers, and those carriers always walk along the roads. It is your job to lay out the roads as efficiently as possible. Another refreshing aspect of the game is the way you command your clan. There is no need to tell every single one of your subjects what to do - that would be impossible, because there can be thousands of them! Instead, all you need to do is order them to build a building somewhere, and the builders will come. Similarly, whenever you want to attack an enemy, just place ... |

WildGem v1.60 WildGem v1.60 A small, free, lightning-fast, portable, single-file app for Windows to help find and replace text. Its powerful syntax combines most of the flexibility of Regex, but with the simplicity of the typical find/replace feature found in your text editor or word processor. Unlike similar programs, WildGem is fast with a dual split display, and updates or highlights matches as you type in realtime. A unique colour coded syntax allows you to easily find/replace text without worrying about having to escape special symbols. If you're a beginner who only occasionally uses find and replace, WildGem will feel second-nature, and can even help you to formulate queries with wildcards. If you're moderately competent with basic or extended expressions, but rarely use Regex, WildGem will allow to create more powerful expressions more quickly with its intuitive interface. Individual WildGem symbols can replace the equivalent of up to 22 Regex symbols! If you're an expert with Regex and use it all the time, you may still appreciate the simpler syntax, colour coding, lightning speed, large input/output areas, realtime updating as you type, and the feature which converts your expression into the equivalent Regex syntax. More information behind the purpose of WildGem: Regex is such a powerful way of editing text, but its power comes at a cost. The learning curve is pretty steep, and there's a lot of syntax to remember. A simple example is replacing something starting with "The" and ending with "Fox" (for example: "The quick brown fox"). Regex would look like this: "the.*?fox". But WildGem simplifies the ".*?" bit to a single WildGem symbol - ✪. So you'd search for "the✪fox" instead. Want to search for one or more letters? The ⊚ symbol replaces the Regex "[a-zA-Z]+?" Likewise, the simple symbol ⇕ is used for new lines or the start/end of a line (equivalent ... |

WildReplace v0.99d WildReplace v0.99d WildReplace is a search and replace tool that lets you search for files on your disks and presents the results in a folder tree highlighting the folders and files that have been found. Most programs of its kind display a plain list of results; WildReplace presents the information by maintaining the folder structure of your disk, and highlighting the folders that contain files that have matched your search criteria. You can search for files using many different search options (file attributes, size, date/time, contents). For example, you can search for files that are read/only and contain a matching phrase (works with both Text and Binary files), or for files that have been modified in the last few days and they have a certain size. Any combination of search terms is allowed. WildReplace can also replace text on files, a feature that is really very powerful but should be treated with care. WildReplace can create backups of modified files, delete files that match your search criteria or move all matching files to a new location while preserving the same folder structure. Version 0.99d (beta) Binary file support (only for searching), allows you to search inside binary files Performance enhancements, quicker abort mechanism Click here to visit the author's website. |

Win10 Settings Blocker v1.1 Win10 Settings Blocker v1.1 In Windows 10 Version 1703 , Microsoft has added a new Group Policy for the Windows 10 that gives you control over the various settings pages that appear in the Windows Settings app this Group Policy will come in very handy for many organizations and Home users. It would behoove systems administrators to lockdown unnecessary panes in addition to securing those panes which IT specifically wishes to keep out of the hands of end-users. This feature is particularly useful in a network environment, such as when configuring a kiosk or guest machine but there are many other scenarios where disabling the Settings app and the Control Panel will come in handy too. For example, if you’re the tech support person for your family and friends, and they keep calling you to reconfigure a feature over and over again. You can fix their computer once, and then block them access to change settings or if you share a device in the house with children, and you don’t want them messing around with the settings on Windows 10. If you don’t have Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) , you can lock down individual Settings panes through the Registry but it would be time consuming and , prone to human error. To stop users from changing settings in Windows 10 you can try our new portable freeware “Win10 Settings Blocker” Application. How to use Win10 Settings Blocker 1. Download the Application , extract and run it 2. For example we want to block “Mobilhotspot” click Plus (Add to list) Button and choose Mobilhotspot from drop down menu , finally use Add to list button. 3. Now use the save settings (ok) Button . Mobilhotspot settings page has been blocked (we can add many items) you can untick the box and use save settings button to make ... |

Winamp Backup Tool v3.6.3 Winamp Backup Tool v3.6.3 Tired of losing your library database? Do you need the ability to move your Winamp config from one PC to another? Enjoy the ultimate Backup Tool for Winamp! The tool was written by Christoph Grether. A lot of people posted in the Winamp.com forums, that they have lost their library database, so I had the idea to create a Backup Tool, using NSIS as program language. The main idea was, that NSIS provides a step by step wizard for installers and already has a built-in localization system. So I decided to write the tool in 2010. Since I'm using Winamp for a very long time, I was aware about all dependencies with saved settings for the native components and for 3rd party components. Though, there were a lot of other problems, so I asked Paweł for help. He wrote a lot of backend code and code for the GUI, so that I had enough time to work on the main backup system. As of today, the tool is the best and most safe way to save all Winamp related settings, databases, skins, visualization presets etc. Even if some people still prepare to simply backup their Winamp settings folder, the tool is the better choice. Because the Winamp settings folder only holds settings for the native components (exluding Winamp Pro Registration Data, Skins, Vis Presets and especially 3rd party configuration files). Thanks go to Paweł Porwisz, who helped during the 1.0 period with a lot of code and Darren Owen. Features Allows you to backup/restore all of your Winamp settings, media library database, plugin settings, skins, visualization presets, tray control icon packs, file type icon libraries and even your Winamp Pro reg data! Allows you to create several zip compressed backup archives! Allows ... |

WinCompose v0.9.3 WinCompose v0.9.3 A compose key for Windows, free and opensource, created by Sam Hocevar with the help of dozens of contributors. A compose key allows to easily write special characters such as é ž à ō û ø ☺ ¤ ∅ « ♯ ⸘ Ⓚ ㊷ ♪ ♬ using short and often very intuitive key combinations. For instance, ö is obtained using o + ", and ♥ is obtained using < + 3. WinCompose also supports Emoji input for 😁 👻 👍 💩 🎁 🌹 🐊. Sam wrote WinCompose because none of the alternatives (FreeCompose, CKFW, AllChars or Unichars) were found to be satisfying. Quick start After installation, WinCompose should appear in the System Tray. Press and release the ⎄ Compose key to initiate a compose sequence (this key defaults to Right Alt); the icon should change to indicate a compose sequence is in progress. Then type in the keys for a compose sequence, such as A then E for Æ: If Right Alt is not suitable for you, you can change it in the settings. The full list of rules can be found by clicking on the WinCompose system tray icon or using the “Show Sequences…” menu entry: The window allows you to filter the sequences being listed. Features WinCompose supports the standard Compose file format. It provides more than 1700 compose rules from the Xorg project and the dotXCompose project. You can add custom rules by creating a file named .XCompose or .XCompose.txt in your %USERPROFILE% directory. WinCompose must be restarted for changes to take effect. WinCompose supports rules of more than 2 characters such as ⎄ Compose ( 3 ) for ③. WinCompose supports early exits. For instance, ⎄ Compose q will immediately type q because there is currently no rule starting with q. As of now, WinCompose is almost fully translated to Belarusian, Chinese, Czech, Dutch, Estonian, French, German, Greek, ... |

Windows 10 Color Control 1.0.0.1 Windows 10 Color Control 1.0.0.1 Windows 10 allows you to customize the taskbar and start menu colors, but it provides only a limited set of predefined colors. In addition, no matter which color you’ll pick, the taskbar will end up being dark. I searched, but haven’t found a straightforward way to have a bright taskbar on Windows 10. Fortunately, I have discovered that there’s an undocumented registry key which makes explorer use an alternative color calculation algorithm, which in turn produces brighter colors. You can see the difference in the example image below. I wrote a quick application, Windows 10 Color Control, which allows you to modify the Windows 10 colors, and to get this alternative color calculation algorithm. The original Windows 10 calculation algorithm is referred to as the “New auto-color accent algorithm”, according to the undocumented registry value name. - RaMMicHaeL |

Windows 10 DPI Fix 2.1 Windows 10 DPI Fix 2.1 When you have a widescreen, with a resolution of 1920x1080 or higher or a bit lower, in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1 you would put your DPI scaling to 125% or higher to make text and images appear larger and more easy to read. But when you put the DPI scaling to 125% in Windows 10, you see in a lot of dialogs and windows the font gets very blurry. It does not matter if you are using the regular or custom Windows DPI scaling functions at your 'Screen properties'. Text will get blurry on 125%. You can test if you have this bug also if you put your DPI scaling to 125% at your 'Screen properties', then reboot Windows (or sign in again when it asks you). Then goto 'Control panel > Administrative tools > Services'. If you have this issue also you would see the titlebar of the Services window has a font scaled good. But the services list itself is very blurry/unsharp to read. The SIMPLE fix: Right-click on the shortcut to your application that has blurry fonts, then select 'Properties'. Then tab 'Compatibility'. Then enable 'Disable display scaling on high DPI settings' and hit 'Apply'. then restart your application, and you see it will look good. The DPI fix: Windows 10 is using another scaling method for DPI as in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and 8.1. At some point we can understand Windows why they changed the DPI scaling in Windows 10. It is probably ment to support mobile devices more easy. But if you like to use your Desktop as a Desktop, and you demand high quality only. Then you can use this fix until Microsoft has addressed this issue. This fix simple tells Windows 10 to use the original DPI scaling as it was in Windows Vista, 7, 8 and ... |

Windows 10 ISO Download Tool v1.2.1.13 Windows 10 ISO Download Tool v1.2.1.13 Download all the currently available versions of Windows 10, including the different language versions from Microsoft servers. The program makes the Windows 10 installation kit available in an ISO standard image file format. During the development of Windows 10 ISO Download Tool, in addition to creating efficient possible applications, adopting fully legal methods was also an important criterion. Problem 1: On Microsoft’s Windows 10 download page a “user-friendly” tool is available by default, which leads to the desired download only after several steps. To those not too familiar with using computers, this option represents a potential source of serious errors. On the other hand, for experts this tool is not efficient enough. Problem 2: There are several independent websites and software for performing this task. According to my experience, they often do not try to reach their goals in a fair way while competing with each other. Solution: Microsoft has designed its Windows 10 download page so that it offers different display contents when viewed from different devices and browsers. E.g. from Linux and Android systems it is possible to directly download the appropriate installation kit in ISO format. Servers create the different contents provided this way on the basis of the default browser settings. However, this setting (user agent) can be changed freely any time. Both Chrome and Firefox offers official plugins for changing the user agent. These are regularly used by e.g. web designers to check how the content developed by them is displayed on different platforms. On Windows a browser with such a plugin, e.g. Android with user agent setting, immediately offers the direct Windows 10 download option on the above-mentioned Microsoft page. Windows 10 ISO Download Tool is a simplified Internet browser, which contains the appropriate user agent setting by default. Advantages of Windows 10 ISO ... |

Windows 10 Settings Shortcut v1.2 Windows 10 Settings Shortcut v1.2 Creates a shortcut to open Windows 10 Settings. Easily place it on your desktop, flash drive or anywhere. If you haven't noticed, there is no real file for the settings application in Windows 10, and neither are you able to pin the application to your desktop. Not easily, anyways. This file Maverick Software has made allows you easily open the settings application, without having to start it from the start menu. However, the main purpose of it is it allows you to basically pin the settings application to your desktop, which you weren't previously able to do. To pin Settings.exe to your desktop, simply click once on the file, right click on the file, hover your mouse over 'Send to', and then click 'Desktop'. On your desktop, you may have to rename the shortcut to 'Settings' if it isn't already like that. IMPORTANT: If you have any antivirus installed, your AV might detect the Settings Shortcut.exe file as malware. (DISCLAIMER: Maverick Software solemnly swears that Settings Shortcut.exe is not malware.) If this happens, you'll need to restore the file (Only if AV quarantines the file.), then add an exclusion to the file. The way to do this depends on your AV; there are many tutorials online. Even though bugs/glitches are unlikely in this program since it so small, if you ever happen to find any, please report them mavericksoftware2018@gmail.com, and Maverick Software will get to work on fixing the bug/glitch right away. Changes: 1.2 We changed the icon of the program so that it is easier to see, especially for people with a dark background. Click here to visit the author's website. |

Windows and Office Genuine ISO Verifier v11.23.45.24 Windows and Office Genuine ISO Verifier v11.23.45.24 Free program to verify Windows and Office ISO and EXE file hashes and compares them with the official file hashes from MSDN and VLSC. The program is free. No need to install, just run the application. Windows and Office Genuine ISO Verifier is a lightweight piece of software that enables you to determine whether you have a genuine copy of Windows or with minimal effort. Straightforward installation and intuitive interface Since the application comes in a portable package, the setup is a quick matter of decompressing the archive in the desired location on your hard disk. However, in case you are having a hard time accessing the file, then you should consider Unblocking the tool from Properties in the context menu. Even though it is not exactly eye-candy, the interface is user-friendly and unlikely to cause you any real troubles while navigating. In fact, the UI is comprised of a single, medium-size window that features very intuitive fields. Consequentially, functionality-wise, using the tool entails specifying the input file and the app does the rest of the job automatically. It supports numerous versions and languages of Office and Windows The strong point of the program stems from the fact that it is designed to recognize a vast array of hashes that are associated with Microsoft's operating system and Office bundle. To be more precise, the utility can compare file SHA-1 to relatively old Microsoft releases, such as Office 95 and Windows XP. On a side note, in case you already performed a scan for the file using other third party software solutions, then you can add the SHA-1 in the dedicated field and determine the authenticity of the file on the spot. Then again, verifying an ISO file is not a lengthy process and should not take too much of ... |

Windows Error Message Creator v1.40.32 Windows Error Message Creator v1.40.32 Mess with your IT person by creating fake error messages. CREATING STANDARD MESSAGE BOXES Windows Error messages are something that everyone has come across at some point or another. WEMC allows you to take these messages and put your own, often humorous, take on them. Everything you need to create one is on the main screen, in the section entitled 'Create A Standard Message Box.' CREATING CUSTOMIZED MESSAGE BOXES A customized message box is a message box that gives you total control over the contents. It allows you to set custom text, icons and buttons -- all in one easy to use interface. CREATING FORMAT DIALOGS WEMC includes the ability to create fictitious Formatting dialogue boxes. Formatting is the act of deleting all the data on a drive. N.B. WEMC does not actually delete any data; it merely gives the impression of such a thing happening. To create a format dialog, press Ctrl+F while on the Main Screen, or select 'Create > Format Dialog' from the menu. SHOWING A BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH WEMC has the ability to show off that most infamous of Windows errors, the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD). To do this, select 'Create > BSOD' from the Main Menu, or press Ctrl+B. Version 1.40.32 Added 2 new icons. Please use the new INI updater to add these new icons to an existing list. This will help to preserve any custom icons you may have added. Added a new button to the Manage Custom Icons screen that will recreate the original CustomIcons.ini file. This is handy if you've accidentally deleted something you shouldn't have (by editing the file outside of WEMC). Please note that this will also remove any custom icons you have added. CustomIcons.ini will now ... |

Windows File Manager (WinFile) v10.1.4.0 Windows File Manager (WinFile) v10.1.4.0 The Windows File Manager lives again and runs as a native x86 and x64 desktop portable app on all currently supported version of Windows, including Windows 10. The source code provided here (in the src directory) was copied from the Windows NT 4 source tree in November 2007. The tag named original_plus contains a very limited set of modifications from the original sources to enable WinFile.exe to run on current Windows. The most significant changes are: converted to Visual Studio solution; works on VS 2015 and 2017 compiles and runs on 64-bit Windows (e.g., GetWindowLong -> GetWindowLongPtr, LONG -> LPARAM) added a few header files which were stored elsewhere in the NT source tree (e.g., wfext.h) deleted some unused files (e.g., winfile.def) converted 64-bit arithmetic from internal libraries to C converted internal shell APIs to public APIs (the primary reason the old version would not run) The help directory contains both winfile.hlp and winfile.chm. Winfile.hlp was in the NT4 source tree, but does not work on Windows 10 any more. Winfile.chm was copied from a regular installation of Windows 98 and works on Windows 10. As is, WinFile.exe tries to launch winfile.hlp which fails. Click here to visit the author's website. |

Windows Key Viewer v1.3.0.18 Windows Key Viewer v1.3.0.18 By using Windows Key Viewer, the current computer product key can be easily determined. In some cases it is very important to know the product key, e.g. when reinstalling the computer. Generally, the product key can be found on the Windows installation kit or on a label on the computer. This label often gets damaged and becomes illegible, and when using multiple computers, installation packages can get mixed up. That is when Windows Key Viewer becomes useful, as the product key can be easily displayed with it. The Windows operating system stores the product key, but there is no possibility to display it directly as this data is encrypted. Windows Key Viewer can display the Windows Product key in its original format. Advantages of Windows Key Viewer: Displays the Windows Product key in its original format Copies the Windows Product key to the clipboard Doesn’t require installation or setup Free to use It supports Windows 7/8/10 operating systems Tested: Windows 10 November 2019 Update ready MD5: e75c75e89699f0acf17dfe421df6f2a8 Changes: Version: 1.3.0.18 - Date: 2021-06-16 Add: Volume licenses support Add: Display computer name Click here to visit the author's website. |

Microsoft has provided a few administrative tools to help (such as auditpol and the Event Viewer) but they are poorly documented and can be tricky to configure. So we created Windows Service Auditor — a free, easy-to-use application that shines a light on your services. Use Windows Service Auditor to help you answer burning questions, such as: * Who stopped my Windows Service? * When was my service started? * Who deleted my service? * At what time did my service start? * Did my service encounter any errors after it was started? * Have any Windows Services been added or modified? The intuitive interface makes it super easy to perform your detective work: How to use Windows Service Auditor 1) Download Windows Service Auditor. Save the executable file on your desktop, or to another well-known location on your computer. 2) Double-click the WindowsServiceAuditor.exe file to launch the program on your desktop. If necessary, confirm the standard User Account Control (UAC) security prompt to proceed: 3) The window that comes up is divided into two parts. The upper pane lists every service installed on your computer while the lower panel shows the events associated with the service selected in the upper pane. For example, here you can see the Windows Update service selected: Double-click a row in the lower panel to see the event's details: 4) Unfortunately ... |

Windows Update Blocker v1.8 Windows Update Blocker v1.8 Helps you to completely disable or enable Automatic Updates on your Windows system with just a click of the button. Windows 10 and 11 offer less UI control over the updating behavior of the operating system than previous versions of Windows , There is no option to turn off Windows Updates using the Control Panel or Settings app in Windows 10 and 11, it checks for updates automatically and install any updates they find, whether you like it or not. This new feature is actually pretty convenient for most users. If you want control over the update process you can disable the Windows Update service . This requires that you open the Services manager, locate the service and change its startup parameter and status. You would then have to enable the service again whenever you want the operating system to check for updates (It does not look so easy). Windows Update Blocker is a freeware that helps you to completely disable or enable Automatic Updates on your Windows system , with just a click of the button . This utility is portable, which means that you are no longer required to go through the installation process and no leftovers will remain on the HDD after its removal. if you place the program file to an external data device, you make it possible to take Windows Update Blocker everywhere with you and use it on any computer you come in contact with, who has things configured just right, and doesn’t want to take the chance that an update might mess up their system. This utility is for that person. How it works After downloading, extract Windows Update Blocker to your desired location, then run it service status icon will show your windows Update service status , if you want to block ... |

Windows Update Viewer v0.5.12 Windows Update Viewer v0.5.12 A free and open source application that displays Windows Update history in an easier layout than Windows does. It is meant to be a lightweight application that is easy to use. There aren't any confusing categories; every update is listed in one place. Updates that you don't want to see can be permanently excluded or temporarily filtered. Windows Update Viewer (WUView) uses the Windows Update API and Windows event logs to display details of installed updates. Event log entries are associated with individual updates by using the "KB" number. If an update does not use a KB number or isn't presented in a consistent format, no event log entries will be displayed. Features • View details for each update. • Easily exclude entries, such as Defender. • Link to the Support URL. • Link to HResult explanation (the HResult is placed in the clipboard). • Toggle the details pane. • Save to a text or CSV file. • Open Windows Update from the app. • Choose accent color and one of three themes. • Adjust app size and row spacing. (Helpful for us users that don't see as well as we used to.) WUView requires up-to-date .Net 6.0 Known Issues • It is possible that certain updates will show "InProgress" in the Result column even though they were successfully installed, and the machine has been rebooted. Those updates will have HResult code 0x80242014 which translates to WU_E_UH_POSTREBOOTSTILLPENDING "The post-reboot operation for the update is still in progress." This persists over multiple reboots. This appears to happen only when running Windows 10. Windows 11 doesn't seem to be subject to this ... |
