Unicodia — encyclopedia of characters v2.12.0 Unicodia — encyclopedia of characters v2.12.0 A free replacement for the Windows Character Map with definitions. Features • In Windows 10/11 — all characters of Unicode 15 (no named sequences right now). • In Windows 7 — all characters of Base Multilingual Plane, plus Phoenician, Aramaic and Brahmi, as scripts of high importance. I’ll also support Old Gothic, just because it looks really “gothic”. • Shows if the character is supported in your system, and if so — which font. • Copy character codes in HTML, UTF-8 and UTF-16. • Simple search. • Little emoji reference. • A few words on every script. Unicodia is just fun to read. • Chinese/Japanese/Korean are collapsed initially. Otherwise point somewhere, and 75% you hit an ideograph. • Free/libre (except license for one font, see About). Changes: v2.12.0 ⛩ CJK Now I review all changes to BS Han, 3 ideographs fell back to SimSunB Removed >10 special rules that either no longer work now, or really minor difference (e.g. roof stroke) (UnicodiaHan unchanged) Old OS with incomplete SimSun now use BabelStone more aggressively Arguable ideographs: • 40E3 (has Chinese): both West and SimSun stuck to standard Chinese rules • 21CBD (Chinese only): after a small research, I admitted that BabelStone’s version is at least legit (such ideographs are often old) • 256A1 (has Chinese): finally took BabelStone, West drew a better version • 2ECEA (from Chinese names): let it be, such rules of Fire component • 3068C (has Chinese): after a talk to West, reverted to BabelStone: they’ll probably change the glyph 🏜️ EGYPTIAN #405 Egyptian tofu have gone, 159 remain in 5 blocks #496 Edited >25 misrenders, mostly beards (human vs Egyptian vs foreigner vs king vs god) Two ... |
