Travesty v2.0 Travesty v2.0 A parody text generator This program takes in a source text file and scrambles it. The process for doing this produces similar results to a Markov chain algorithm, although it works differently. The algorithm starts by printing any N consecutive words (or letters) in the text. Then at every step it searches for any random occurrence in the original text of the last N words (or letters) already printed and then prints the next word or letter. Notes for use: Pattern length 2 - Produces gibberish 4 - is understandable 8 - is most like the input text Literary critic Hugh Kenner and computer scientist Joseph O'Rourke introduced their text scrambler "Travesty" in an issue of BYTE Magazine in 1984. This is what this GUI version is based on. "> See the Wikipedia page for more information about parody generators. Click here to visit the author's website. |
