Temporarily lager editor / notes list Ctrl+Up /
Down

Depending on the work, it may be advantageous to make the list of notes or the editor larger in order to get a better overview.
These buttons work like a switch and the positions are not saved.

to Notes list AltGr+N Goes directly to the list of notes.

to Global search AltGr+G Goes directly to the list of global search. The list of stacks is controlled directly with F5 .

to Tag list AltGr+T Goes directly to the tag list panel.

to Editor AltGr+E Goes directly to the editor.

Backup of all stacks

A backup is created outside of the automatic backups. This is e.g. very advisable for search/exchange in all stacks.
The name of the directory can be freely chosen. However, if the normal backup directory (is selected by default) chosen, a subdirectory "Extra" is created in this folder.

As with the automatic backup, these batches can easily be opened temporarily with ALT+F5

Import/Export

Note, individuals and groups can be exported and imported. This 3 encodings (Unicode, ANSI and ASCII) are supported. There are several stands between the notes the file delimiter .

It can also be absorbed. "Data files" to import. These are files with one record per line in various formats (csv, tab delimited, etc.). Then the data are relatively easy to bring with F12 in the desired form.

The import can take some time for large data sets! The new notes stands always at the beginning of the stack.

Read file links Alt+F6

Reads in folders or entire folder structures files (documents, images, media etc.) and creates for each a note and the file link (and a folder link) with the 3. template  - but only for those files whose link in the current stack is not yet available

Afterwards you can check the links with Shift+F11 and delete notes with links that are no longer valid or files that no longer exist. It is always advisable to save the stack beforehand !

To try it out, the contents of the corresponding stack can easily be copied to a temporary stack with F10 (group). The 3. Template should be adapted to your own wishes, also with the help of ";" before the respective variants of the 3. Line in the editor (Shift+Alt+T).

A standard file filter can be set, the default is "*.*". Thus, e.g. "*.pdf" and similar.

This makes it possible to create an effective "document management" and to create further notes on files (media, documents, archive, images etc.), which can then be found and retrieved very quickly. You can also sync with Synchronize file link (see below). This allows all possible notes on the same files.

This function can also be used as the "opposite" of Shift+F11 if you wants to know if unlinked files (and which ones) are present in a directory. These are always placed at the beginning of the stack, so that they are easy to check..

Global search file link Shift+F6

Here, the file links of a running program can be searched globally - a "redirected" Synchronize file link according to the same rules. (see below) This can be a "preliminary stage" to the actual synchronization.

For example, A document / media file / photo etc., can be searched for a corresponding link in the whole Info-Base.

Synchronize viewer Ctrl+F5

If a viewer (e.g. IrfanView) is specified , and on the notes a file link (always only the first one per note !), Then it can be used e.g. Photos and small videos are viewed. This is very useful if you have several monitors on the PC.

Attention: With the IrfanView, "only one instance" must be activated in the settings ! This can also be done with the command line option "/one".

This synchronization will be automatically terminated as soon as the notes list no longer has the focus ; likewise with a repeated Ctrl+F5.

Note:

The two types of synchronization are completely separate and fundamentally different:

  1. Synchonize viewer (from Info-Base to outside)

For example, one has stacks with photos. i.e. always a file link to a picture. If this option is active, the first link per note is sent to the viewer. On the sheet you can take any notes to the photo.
The photo files can be easily accessed with Alt+F6 (3. template) or updated. A filter can also be used to make a selection. Images/links whose file extension is not specified or no link is present at all are ignored when scrolling.
It shouldn't be scrolling too fast (especially with videos). The delay (ms) may have to be adjusted .

  2. Synchronize file link (from outside to Info-Base)

It runs e.g. a video or music (on the second monitor) and it should be found and stored the corresponding note as long as the media file is running.
You can do other things in the Info-Base and keep coming back to the linked note for information about the particular recording.

Only one of these two types can be started at a time !

Synchronize file link Ctrl+F8

This option is intended for Viewers and Media-players. Without having the Info-Base in the focus, this looks in a stack for the suitable file links and synchronizes himself with the Viewer or other program.

However, this works only with programs , that shows in the window title (visible or not) the file names (no unicode) ! The programs should be associated with the respective extensions (also with OpenWith.ubi ), so that they start automatically when you click on the link.

In the settings the desired window names are to be given (very exactly, case sensitive !) to distinguish in the order of the priority and with "*" of each other. Square bracket ("[]") are automatically removed. The default ("- IrfanView*- PDF-XChange Viewer*- VLC media player") considers the frequently methods.

Attention: Of course, only one window with the specified name may be open. For example, if one is at the same time on the web page of "foobar2000", the synchronization to foobar2000 may not work.

Normally, a file link is always clear, but it can happen (in playlists and cuesheets) that the file name displayed in the window title is slightly different from the file link. As can auto reduction of sync file links possibly help.

The synchronization always refers to the stack in which this function was called. If another stack was loaded in the interim, Info-Base loads automatically that stack again, if scroll the Viewer or call this function again .

Once synchronization has been established (visible on the icon !), you can work in the Info-Base as you wish. Ctrl+F8 or a click on the icon to return to the stack and the linked note or to switch off synchronization.

The program (viewer/player, etc.) to which the synchronization relates automatically receives the focus when it is initialized.

When the editor while an active synchronization is exited or the minimized Info-Base is reactivated, the focus automatically returns to the synchronized program. If the editor is read only a click on it will do that also.

So there are 3 different states of synchronization:

  1. active = linked note is displayed, icon blue with a red !
  2. not active = linked notes noted, icon blue
  3. off = icon grey

If in the settings the option "Read only / synchronize file link" is activated, the editor is automatically set to read only. This prevents unwanted changes to the marked file link because you are too focused on the medium.

Macros that access the editor cannot function correctly with read only of course !

But the read only can be switched off manually (e.g. with F8 or double click on the search field while an active synchronization) at any time if you want to write something on the note etc. Most other functions works as usual, but Info-Base must have the focus.

With the previous function (read file links ) archives of pictures, media files, documents or others can be managed and provided with any additional informations.

Synchronization off Shift+F8

The synchronization can be switched off manually with Shift+F8, whereby nothing changes in the current status (note, filter, etc.). Otherwise this happens automatically when the linked program is closed.

In the synchronized state (where the linked program normally has the focus) you can either press also Ctrl+F8 or click the icon, or twice if the focus is on a note other than the linked note.

Note:

The 4 following "pickers" (picker, clipboard, calendar and calculator) are available almost everywhere.

If they are called in the editor or in both searches, the result is inserted at the cursor position, otherwise it is copied to the clipboard (is visible in the title).

Picker Alt+P

With the picker any text (including placeholders) can be entered in the editor or in both searches.

This may also serve to standardize the spelling of names.

Individual entries can be deleted or moved and the width/height of the window can be set in a Popup menu (right mouse button) or with the corresponding hotkeys.

Clipboard Alt+C

This calls up an internal clipboard that stores the last texts of Ctrl+C, Ctrl+X and the links of Ctrl+H and Ctrl+I .

In input fields (F3 and F4) for the search, only the first line is copied from the clip text !

Individual or all entries can be deleted and the width/height of the window can be set in a Popup menu (right mouse button) or with the corresponding hotkeys.

A small side effect: If the clipboard is called with "to Clipboard", the entry is quasi put at the beginning of the list.

Calendar Alt+D

The small calendar is self-explanatory and is used for quick entry of the date.

You can scroll with:

Left Right for a day
Up Down for a week
PgUp PgDn for a month
Home End for a year

Accept the date with Enter (mouse click) and abort with Esc .

Calculator Alt+Q

A small calculator for fast calculations with 2 decimal places. In addition, the whole "calculation strip" can be copied into the cliboard or the cursor position.

The arithmetic operations are retained until "C" is pressed or Info-Base is exited. The calculator can be closed with Esc.

To operate the calculator with the numeric keys of the numeric block (independent of NumLock!), but also with function keys (notebooks):

+M F5 copies the input or the result to the buffer.

-M F6 subtracts the input or the result from the memory.

RM F7 copies the memory into the input for further arithmetic operations.

CM F8 clears the memory.

BS BckSp

corrects the last entry, takes one place from the right.

CE E deletes the current input.

C

deletes the entire calculator.

% P percentage

/ D  Division, key on the numeric block.

* M Multiplication, key on the numeric block.

- S Subtraction, key on numeric block.

+ A

Addition, key on the numeric block.

= Enter Intermediate or final result.

R Only if the cursor in the editor, the strip is copied to the cursor position (otherwise to the clipboard) and exit.

O Result to clipboard or to cursor position and exit.

Spell checker

Ctrl+F7

Can be also automatically with Esc when leaving the window after making changes. In this case, the completion message is not displayed.

If a single word or a part of text is selected, only that is checked.

There are only the enclosed dictionaries ! You should therefore not delete languages that are not required !

Options

The dictionaries to the spell checker and options can be set.

The user dictionary specified at the first start is automatically formed from the user name of the PC.
But you can also specify the same custom dictionary on different PCs (e.g. for synchronized notebooks).

Auto correction Ctrl+F6

Normally, this correction should be automatically upon leaving (no matter how!) be the Editor window after changes.

This function refers to the AutoCorr.ubi file and can easily be adapted to your own needs.

This function is partially overlaps with the spelling checker or the picker, and it is up to personal taste as you would like to use it.

Monthly calendar
Weekly calendar

Generates a simple, linear calendar for one year. The completed month or week can be pushed to the end (backup) of the note with Roll up (Alt+F11) or with split (Alt+F10) can be divided into individual notes or the completed entries can be deleted individually with Ctrl+Y. Entries are made as desired after the date.

The individual anniversaries, birthdays, etc. must of course be entered beforehandwith the appropriate editor!

A distinction is made between monthly and weekly calendars (with or without calendar week numbers).
In the monthly calendar, the week is marked with "----" in the column of the day and in the weekly calendar the month, if this does not fall together with each other.

The language of the names of the days and months depends on the Windows setting. (cf. settings under Date )

With Search/Replace (F12 or Shift+F12), a calendar generated in this way can easily be adapted to your own requirements, e.g. the "----" in a longer line. Best with a replace file (*.rpl), examples are enclosed.

Or you want to be reminded of a backup every 1st day of a month: search: "{{CR}}02" replace: "{{Cr}}{{TB}}{{TB}}Backup !{CR}}02".

Or an entry last day of a month: search: "{{TB}}----{{CR}}" repace: "{{TB}}{{TB}}Payments{{CR}}{{TB}}----{{CR}}"

Short Menu

This menu is a bit long and can therefore be displayed without the easily noticeable 4 "to ... options". The AltGr+N/G/T/E keys remain active.
