grepWin v2.0.15 grepWin v2.0.15 A regular expression search and replace for Windows. grepWin is a simple search and replace tool which can use regular expressions to do its job. This allows to do much more powerful searches and replaces. In case you're not familiar with regular expressions, the author has a very short regular expression tutorial for you. Use: grepWin adds an entry to the shell context menu to easily search selected folders. Once started, grepWin allows you to customize the search or replace in many ways. For example, you can (and maybe you should) limit the search to certain file sizes, file types, etc. Since regular expressions can sometimes get complicated, grepWin allows you to add your most used expressions to a presets list. Once you've added some presets, you can easily retrieve them again from the presets dialog. After a successful search or replace, the matching files are listed at the bottom of the dialog. The file list behaves a lot like the common Windows explorer. That means a double-click will open the file, and a right-click will show you the default shell menu for that file. GXSCC v236E GXSCC v236E GXSCC is a wonderful program that emulates a Famicom (NES) or SCC sound chip in order to play MIDIs. To play a MIDI file, simply drag and drop it onto the main screen. Here is a MIDI of ABBA's "Take a Chance On Me" for you to try it out.. Put your headphones on. The sound is surprising soothing and nostalgic. The program is completely portable. GXSCC Tutorial (by: meme.institute) Extract the zip file and start GXSCC.exe. Ignore the dialog box and just click OK Find a MIDI Sometimes it can be hard to find MIDIs of certain songs, but there's a 99% chance the song has been MIDIfied before by someone. Here are some things to Google: "X midi" "X midi free" "X synthesia" "X synthesia" on YouTube, then look in the description for a MIDI link "X synthesia midi" Some sites claim to offer free MIDIs, but then offer a subscription for a PRO™ MIDI or something. Don't bother; if you can't get a MIDI from a site within 60 seconds of visiting just go somewhere else. Also, some MIDIs were put through "MP3 to MIDI" conversion software that doesn't work at all, resulting in what sounds like a gorilla with boxing gloves smashing a piano. When your computer runs out of memory (RAM), Windows keeps things running by pretending that a reserved area of your hard drive is RAM. All of the information your that Windows and you programs generate is stored in a single file called pagefile.sys in this reserved area. This file can grow to be several gigabytes in size and does not get deleted when your computer is shutdown. Not only does this use up a sizable chunk of your hard drive, it also opens you up to skilled individuals retrieving this information from your hard drive. PreventPageFileSnoops changes a single registry value to force Windows to delete the pagefile.sys file when you shutdown your computer. AllowPageFileSnoops sets this value back to its default (do not delete pagefile.sys on shutdown). KEEP IN MIND Since the pagefile.sys is sometimes huge and depending on the speed of your computer and hard drive, it could take a few minutes to shut down your computer with this enabled. This program is powered by my service ID Ransomware, and thus is always updated with definitions on the latest known ransomwares and their ransom notes. This also allows it to be flexible in detecting the ransom notes, as it uses the exact same data ID Ransomware uses for identifying variants. When RansomNoteCleaner is first launched, it will contact the website, and pull down the latest information on known ransom notes; this is the only network activity done with the program, and no information about your system is uploaded or stored at all. If you have a network issue with reaching the website, the "Refresh Network" button is available to try again. Clicking the "Select Ransomware(s)" button allows for selecting the exact variant(s) to clean ransom notes from. This is recommended if you have already identified the ransomware, as it will take much less time to search for the notes. Once the ransomware variant(s) have been confirmed, you may press the "Search for Ransom Notes" button to select a directory (or whole drive), and start the search for known ransom notes.
